The Very Best
I'm going to let you in on a little secret: Voxengo's Oldskoolverb is the very best free reverb plugin. Does that sound like a pretty bold claim? Let me bring you around to my way of thinking.

Simple, Yet Effective
Voxengo is an audio plugin company that has been around for years. Its plugins are all VSTs that aim to cover all areas of audio engineering. They have plugins for vocals, gain, phasers, compression, you name it and Voxengo has their own version of it. Many of these are paid plugins, but they have a few free ones that don't hold anything back.
A good reverb is supposed to give you echo without distracting too much from the music. Before computers were used to add effects to music, reverb was possible with springs and other mechanisms. When using reverb plugins, many of them will have a complex array of dials that are difficult to use. Voxengo's Oldskoolverb solves that problem with the nifty "Space" and "Time" dials.
Space and Time
The space dial allows you to increase the simulated amount of space on the track. The maximum will sound like you're singing in a cathedral! Leave this setting low and you'll get the opposite effect: a dry, simple sound.
The time dial allows you to control the amount of time the echo lasts. When you increase this, the echo becomes more powerful.
A good rule of thumb is to add a little echo, but if it is overpowering, keep reducing space/time or "Reverb" until the effect is palatable.
VST effects work with most Digital Audio Workstations. This plugin will work with ProTools, Logic, Cubase, or my recommended DAW, Reaper.
